These were the sad scenes on Atlantic Road yesterday as the former premises of the popular Budget Carpets store in Brixton were stripped out by workmen.

The independent carpet company were forced out as a result of Network Rail’s hugely unpopular plans to renovate the arches.
Network Rail had insisted that all the businesses in the arches along Atlantic Road and Station Road needed to be cleared for the work to proceed, but magically the bookies and pawn shop in the same trip still remain open for businesses and unaffected.
